extracts

Sometimes something hits really well but it is so hard to get an excerpt to make sense to anyone else. I guess I don't try very often, anyhow. How do you go about that? Write it in a letter?

Hello,

We do not know each other very well
But this is meaningful to me
And I hope that might mean something to you.

"Here is some halo
the living made together."

With love,

I would like to eat pomegranates and hide under the covers for a while.

I walk around a lot thinking about mundane things I will probably never tell anyone else.

It is strange how much I am averse to doing things I don't want to do, and how much I dislike settling, since right now I really feel like everything is moving very quickly and kind of without me and I really just would like to be settled for a while.

It has been windy a lot lately and sometimes I hop up in the air during big gusts, just in case. Sometimes it really feels like it could carry you a bit. Soon it will snow and then these things will be slightly more grounded, I guess.

Homes are funny things.

Once, in Delhi, my friend Brittany's auntie's son-in-law told her about some sort of elaborate detective show and she thought it was weird but didn't have much else to say so she said "Oh, that's funny." He very seriously replied "Crime isn't funny, Brittany."

I suppose secondhand stories are sort of boring. "I guess you had to be there" is one of my least favorite sayings.

I am trying to be less selfish but it is very tricky. I don't like having to explain myself so often. I think that is a big part of why I like literature. The best kind doesn't have to explain anything or even make any sense.

My nose is running.
